Slick Rock Trail I

Location:  Utah, Canyonlands National Park, Needles

At 9AM I was already 5 miles up the trail at a magnificent overlook.  I surveyed the surroundings and descended to this rock ledge to paint in the shade of a large boulder.  The rock cairn was typical – grabbing the hiker’s attention and then compelling him/her to look for the next one.  In fact, I wondered how the trail could continue through these towering sandstone cliffs.
